Bear Hunting

BEAR HUNTING

A bear that is laying down on the ground.

Our outfitter prioritizes quality over quantity, hosting a limited number of bear hunters weekly. Opt for the boat-access black bear hunt to enjoy solitude within the Eagle Lake State Reserve, covering almost 100 square miles of exclusive territory. We accommodate various hunting methods: rifle, pistol, black powder, shotgun, crossbow, and archery. Baited hunts start in late August, and hound hunts begin in late September through October.

Our bear hunter success rates are impressive, with 80% for bait hunts and nearly 100% for hound hunts. Bears average 175 pounds on bait and 300 pounds with hounds, with sizes ranging from 5.5 feet to over 7 feet. All hunters use active bear baits and trail cameras to enhance success, communicating with guides via private 5-watt radios.

Stay in lakeside log cabins with private baths on Eagle Lake or at the main lodge with modern amenities. Enjoy fine cuisine, including Maine lobster and prime meats, served in the historic dining room. Reasonably priced high-quality hunts are ideally located, with non-stop flights from Dulles International to Presque Isle (PQI), just 45 miles from camp. Bring your family to enjoy lodge activities, with trapping available for a second bear.

Our state-inspected processing facility and on-site taxidermist offer convenience for preserving your hunt.
