Water Buffalo
Nathan Theriault's Story

In person or on a network news report or television feature, Nathan’s enthusiasm and love for adventure and wildlife energizes viewers, clients and staff. As co-host for a reality TV series called “The Guides - Life as an Outfitter”, six years of capturing in-the-field adventures on camera for clients and television spawned the production savvy to contribute to an outstanding production. Also, a Cabela’s Ultimate Adventure TV episode with Nathan was nominated for awards in three categories at the Outdoor Channel’s Annual Awards Banquet in Las Vegas.

Leading outdoor industry companies such as Cabela’s, Barnett, EOTech, Remington, Plano, Mossy Oak, Fox-Pro, and Swarovski have called on Nathan for promotional assistance with such events as corporate outings, in-store product demonstrations, seminars, in-field promotions, and for exhibitions at leading trade shows, like SHOT and SCI. “C” level corporate executives of Fortune 500 companies involved in technology, retail, construction, and the energy industry call on Nathan to help entertain clients and family.

At 36 years old and with 16 years practice as a guide and outfitter, he’s served as one of a dozen Cabela’s “big-game” Pro-staffers and a field tester for new lines of hunting gear. Nathan’s multi-state guiding operation, OMM Outfitters, was once designated a Cabela’s World’s Foremost Destination offering world-class hunting and fishing adventures in Florida, Kentucky, Maine, and New Brunswick.

Nathan’s lifetime passion was inspired by childhood hunting adventures in the North Maine Woods with his father and grandfather. Enjoying the feeling of freedom in the outdoors, learning from observing a large variety of wildlife, and attaining a deep respect for nature contributed to gaining a vast knowledge of wildlife and habitat management. Today’s adventures take Nathan to extreme destinations like pursuing water buffalo in Papua New Guinea and Ocellated Turkeys in the jungles of the Yucatán Peninsula.

Nathan believes delivering first class outdoor adventures requires constant learning and thus, among other disciplines, he’s earned a college business degree and is an accomplished bush plane pilot, USCG Captain, and certified diver. Engrained from his youth, values like honesty, integrity, perseverance, love for God, family, and country are treasured.

OMM Outfitters' Story

OMM stands for Old Mill Marina, Inc. the company connected with a four acre waterfront marina in the Village of Eagle Lake, Maine. In 2002, the land was acquired to serve as home base for Nathan’s guiding and outfitting operation. (OMM Outfitters) This was previously the site of a 1950 40,000 square foot hardwood mill. In 1990 the mill was converted into a 300 seat waterfront restaurant, hotel, and marina, but was destroyed by a fire in 1994. Nathan rebuilt the Marina operation replacing gasoline tanks and docks and adding RV sites. OMM has evolved into being one of the most respected names in the outfitting business.

In 2007, the historic Eagle Lake Sporting Camps, established in 1889, located six miles to the East on Eagle Lake were purchased and are now part of OMM's outdoor adventure package. The Camps are located within a 23,000 acre State Reserve. This wilderness contains many opportunities to view wildlife and experience a true sense of the outdoors. With many historic ties from logging with horses, to Theodore Roosevelt’s hunting adventures, the Camps are full of history and abundant in adventures for everyone.

Today, adventure and wilderness outfitting covers three states including Florida, Kentucky, and Maine and the province of New Brunswick, Canada.

Nathan-HuskyMaine: We outfit for moose, bear, coyote, upland birds, turkey and goose hunting. Our vast hunting area consisting of state and private land features abundant productive habitat. Bird watching and moose viewing tours are exciting and filled with the sights and sounds of nature. The historic lodge, built for entertaining, provides lasting memories. A North Maine Woods Safari lodge provides a modern “glamping” experience. “Glamping” is going camping, but with glamour. It's defined by some “as satisfying your craving for the outdoors and your penchant for a good meal, nice glass of wine, and a comfortable bed.”

Kentucky: We outfit for and our main focus is Elk. We also offer whitetail deer hunting as well as turkey. We operate exclusively on 200,000 acres of private ground and are advisors on the landowner’s wildlife management program. Accommodations consist of first class hotel lodging and remote safari camps. Wildlife tours on the property and bird watching is a highly regarded and requested opportunity as well.

Florida: We outfit for Osceola turkey, alligator, hogs from multiple privately-owned corporate locations. The ranches are made up of 3,500 to up to 100,000 contiguous acres. The all-inclusive accommodations are great for corporate outings and the facilities and staffing are world class. Zoo-like wildlife tours and bird watching are offered and very exciting from air-boats and observation buggies. Each April, Captain Nathan leads clients to the best Tarpon and Sailfish spots in the Florida Keys from home base at a legendary luxury fishing resort.

New Brunswick
: Join Nathan in Northwestern New Brunswick this June for an action-packed Spring Bear Hunt. Experience the vast and remote adventure destinations of The Kedgwick Wildlife Management Area and the Restigouche River. OMM Outfitters' exclusive luxury lodge with fine dining and lounge is just 115 miles from Eagle Lake in the midst of over 200 square miles of forest teaming with hungry boars emerging from hibernation. Hunts are primarily over bait from elevated stands and ground blinds. However, these hunts are during the heat of the black bear rut, so spot and stock and calling techniques are appropriate.

Earl Peterson - Kentucky Bull Elk Hunt

"What an extraordinary hunt this was! Hunting the reclaimed mountain top coal properties of Eastern Kentucky was as exhilarating as being at an altitude of 10,000 feet in the Rocky Mountains - but without the thin air. Elk were bugling all around us and reacting with great enthusiasm to our calling."

John Houck - Kentucky Bull Elk Hunt

This hunt actually started in May of 2015 when my son Joe received the news that he hit the lottery! Now I’m not talking about “power ball”, I’m talking about a bull elk tag for the 2015 Kentucky rifle season! I’m not sure who was more excited, as Joe went on to say, “I hope you’ll go with me Dad.”
The planning started immediately. Seasons, rules, regulations, harvest statistics, and outfitters were at the top of the list. We left no stone unturned, as we were determined to make the most of this perhaps once in a lifetime opportunity.
After talking to what seemed like every outfitter in Kentucky, as well as numerous references, Joe decided on OMM Outfitters. Nathan Theriault heads up OMM Outfitters, and he lived up to his reputation by exceeding all of our expectations. First class, all the way!
